This vessel works more than one stretch of the river. The direction changes the order of the temples, the number of nights and which city you fly out of.

Accessibility

Who can join this

The vessel and its shore-excursion programme require a moderate level of mobility. Expect steps to enter and exit the cruiser, cabin thresholds, and narrow gangways at some docks. Historic sites visited, including the Valley of the Kings and Karnak Temple, have uneven stone surfaces, steep staircases, and limited handrails. Wheelchair users can access some public areas on board, but most Nile landing points and temple approaches are not wheelchair-friendly. We arrange assistance at embarkation and disembarkation when requested, and we recommend travelling with a companion if you need physical support. Please tell us about mobility needs when you book so we can plan suitable assistance and select the most accessible cabins where available.

Before you go

What to pack & wear

What to bring

  • Valid passport with at least six months’ validity and any required visas
  • Comfortable walking shoes with good grip for temple surfaces
  • Sun protection: broad-brim hat, sunglasses, sunscreen SPF30+
  • Lightweight layered clothing for hot days and cooler evenings
  • Reusable water bottle (refills available on board)
  • Small daypack for shore excursions and to carry water
  • Any personal medications plus a basic first-aid kit

What to wear

  • Lightweight, loose-fitting clothing for daytime on deck and excursions
  • Covered shoulders and knees for temples and mosques
  • A light sweater or fleece for cooler evenings on deck
  • Closed-toe shoes for archaeological sites and uneven stone surfaces
  • Swimwear for the pool or sundeck, worn only in pool areas

Children & families

Children 0–5.99 years travel free, 6–11.99 years pay 50% of the adult fare, and children 12 years and above pay the full adult price. Children must share a cabin with their parents, with a maximum of one child per cabin; two or more children require their own cabin. Strollers are practical on board but may be difficult to use at some landing stages and temple approaches because of steps and narrow ramps. High chairs are not guaranteed on every cruiser; please request specific child equipment at the time of booking so we can confirm availability with the cruise supplier.

Responsible travel

How we travel here

We prioritise local suppliers and low-impact practices on board and ashore. The cruiser is typically staffed by locally employed crew and uses diesel engines common to Nile river vessels; we request that partner lines follow engine maintenance schedules to limit fuel inefficiency and oil leaks. Transfers to and from embarkation ports use air-conditioned minibuses with drivers contracted from nearby towns, not long-haul coach fleets. Shore excursions are guided by licensed Egyptologists and local guides from the communities visited, which helps channel income directly to local families and small businesses. On board we ask guests to minimise single-use plastics, reuse towels where practical, and follow waste-separation procedures; crew manage food waste and recycling where the port facilities allow. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator, we monitor supplier practices and prefer partners who hire locally and contribute to community projects.

Blue Shadow Nile Cruise

The Blue Shadow Nile Cruise sails between Luxor and Aswan with guided visits to Karnak, the Valley of the Kings, Philae, Edfu and Kom Ombo. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator; our Egyptologists lead all guided excursions and explain the archaeology at each site. Onboard life alternates deck-side Nile views with full-board dining, short talks and an evening folkloric show. We do not run large-group bus tours, our sailings are restricted to small groups of no more than eight guests. Compared with mass-market coach tours, the cruise allows more time at Edfu and Kom Ombo to explore on foot. Optional excursions, including an Abu Simbel day trip from Aswan, can be arranged on request.

Concerto Nile Cruise

The Concerto Nile Cruise runs between Luxor and Aswan, offered as 3-night or 4-night full-board itineraries. Itineraries visit Karnak and Luxor Temples, the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, the Colossi of Memnon, Kom Ombo, Edfu and Philae. Edfu is reached by horse-drawn chariot, and Kom Ombo receives an extended stop for photography and study of the reliefs. Full-board accommodation onboard, private air-conditioned transfers, entrance fees and an English-speaking Egyptologist are included, with guide groups limited to eight guests. We keep Egyptologist groups to a maximum of eight to reduce walking-group size at busy sites and allow more time with the guide. Optional Abu Simbel excursions can be added from Aswan. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and we arrange all transfers and local guides.
