Accessibility
Who can join this
The Nile cruiser has steps, narrow gangways and uneven decking at embarkation and disembarkation points, and some public areas have raised thresholds. Shore excursions include walking on cobblestones, sandstone ramps, and uneven ancient stone at sites such as the Valley of the Kings and Karnak Temple, and may involve stairs without handrails. Wheelchair users should note that most vessels are not fully wheelchair accessible; cabins with step-free access are limited and require advance confirmation. Mobility-impaired guests can usually take part in on-board life, lounge seating and dining, but independent movement ashore may be restricted. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator, and we will discuss mobility needs at booking to arrange the most suitable cabin and to liaise with local partners; however, full accessibility cannot be guaranteed for all shore visits.

Children & families
Children aged 0 to 5.99 years travel free; children aged 6 to 11.99 years pay 50% of the adult fare; children aged 12 and over pay the full adult price. Children must share a cabin with their parents, with a maximum of one child per cabin; two or more children require a separate cabin. Cots and baby equipment are limited on board, please request at booking. Strollers are useful for hotels and embankments but can be impractical on the vessel and at some archaeological sites where there are steps and uneven surfaces.

How we travel here
The vessel uses diesel engines typical of Nile cruisers, and transfers to/from the dock are by launch or tender where required. We select partners who maintain regular engine servicing and who segregate waste on board for shore disposal at licensed facilities. Local crew and guides are employed directly by the cruise line; we prioritise suppliers who hire locally and pay local taxes, and we recommend shore-excursion guides who are Egyptologists from the region. Where possible we encourage reduced single-use plastic on board and recommend guests bring refillable water bottles to use with ship water stations. Excursion timings are planned to reduce congestion at fragile sites, and any optional village visits support community-run craft stalls or registered local workshops rather than informal street sellers.

A Sara Nile Cruise
A Sara sails the Nile between Aswan and Luxor, calling at Kom Ombo, Edfu, the Valley of the Kings and Luxor's East Bank. Choose the Aswan-to-Luxor, four-day option that departs every Wednesday, or the five-day Luxor-to-Aswan option that departs every Saturday with an optional Abu Simbel extension. Days combine temple visits with short daytime sailings, so you spend more time ashore at Edfu and Kom Ombo than on many tightly timed itineraries. Evenings are spent on deck with river views and relaxed dining. We arrange the Abu Simbel excursion by coach or scheduled flight if you add it when you book.

Al Kahila Nile Cruise
Al Kahila Nile Cruise is a river vessel offering cabin classes with Nile views, a sun deck, lounge bar and a dining room. The vessel sails weekly in both directions between Luxor and Aswan. Discovery Tours Egypt has carefully selected and arranges this cruise as part of your Egypt travel plans. Unlike coach-based group tours, the cruise alternates sailing and on-shore visits for a paced itinerary.
