02Overview

A first look

We offer three Aswan hotel options: Sonesta Nouba, Movenpick Resort and The Zen Wellness Resort. As a licensed Egyptian tour operator, we handle bookings, private transfers and on-ground assistance in Aswan.

Background

The facts

Sonesta Nouba is a five-star hotel in Aswan on the Nile Corniche at Corniche El Nile Baharive, Abu El Rish Qebli. Its mainland position places it within easy reach of Aswan city services, the riverfront, and Corniche promenades, making it practical for short stays and onward travel in Upper Egypt.

Aswan is a southern Egyptian city on the east bank of the Nile, known for its riverfront setting and access to nearby heritage sites such as the Philae Temple area, the Unfinished Obelisk, and the Aswan High Dam. From central Aswan, Nile-front hotels typically offer convenient access to boat connections, local dining, and transport to sightseeing points across the city.

The property offers rooms and suites with air conditioning, balconies available on request, a breakfast buffet on many room rates, and facilities including an outdoor pool, spa, fitness center, restaurant, and bar. Complimentary Wi-Fi is included in guest rooms and public areas, and hotel-arranged airport shuttle and parking are available subject to the hotel’s arrangements.

For travelers comparing locations, a mainland Corniche hotel generally reduces transit time to city facilities compared with some island properties. This makes it suitable for guests who want straightforward access to the riverfront, hotel amenities, and Aswan’s urban services during a one-night stay or short break.

Suited to

Is this for you?

Yes, if

  • This is suited to travelers who want a comfortable 5-star hotel stay in Aswan with easy access to the Nile Corniche, especially couples, independent travelers, and guests on short leisure stops. It also suits visitors who prefer a hotel with a pool, spa, and on-site dining after a day of sightseeing.
  • It is a practical choice for adults of most ages and for families who want a central base rather than a resort-style property. Guests who value shorter transfers to city services and a mainland location may find it more convenient than island-based accommodation.

What lingers

  • 01Sonesta Nouba on the Aswan Corniche – easy access to Aswan Souq and Nile felucca departures.
  • 02Mövenpick Aswan offers Nile-facing rooms with views of Elephantine Island and morning light for photography.
  • 03The Zen Wellness Resort provides spa, yoga classes and quiet gardens – useful between Abu Simbel and Philae daytrips.
  • 04We recommend Nile-facing rooms at Mövenpick or Sonesta for early-morning Philae boat departures.
  • 05Unlike Nile cruise cabins, these hotels provide stable electricity and evening access to the Aswan Souq.

A handful of dates each year sit well above the typical monthly band. If your travel dates fall inside these, expect to pay a premium even in an otherwise quiet month.

Accessibility

Who can join this

The Sonesta Nouba sits on the Nile Corniche with level access from the street into the lobby, but guests should expect some uneven pavement on the Corniche and a single short step at the main entrance. Public areas include lifts between floors, but some older rooms may require one flight of steps; please request a ground-floor or elevator-accessible room when booking. Pool edges, spa facilities and restaurant terraces have standard height changes and may not be suitable for guests who need continuous flat routes. Wheelchair users can access the main public areas and guest-room corridors, however some guest rooms have narrow doorways and bathrooms that do not have roll-in showers. Our drivers and hotel staff can assist with luggage and stair transfers on request, but we cannot guarantee availability of fully accessible rooms without advance notice. If you require specific mobility equipment, accessible bathroom features, or a room with step-free access, tell us at booking and we will confirm availability with the hotel before you travel.

Before you go

What to pack & wear

Children & families

Children are welcome at Sonesta Nouba. The hotel’s child-age and extra-bed rules vary by room type and rate; typically children under 6 stay free when sharing existing bedding, and an extra bed or rollaway for ages 6 to 12 is available for a charge. Cots/cribs are available on request and must be requested at booking to guarantee supply. Strollers are practical in the hotel and on flat sections of the Corniche, but pavement along the river can be uneven and may require lifting the stroller over short steps. High chairs in the restaurant are available on request, but we advise reconfirming when you book so the hotel can prepare.

Indicative rates only – pricing and rooms fluctuate. Please enquire for live rates on your specific dates.

Responsible travel

How we travel here

The hotel operates standard air-conditioned minibuses for airport shuttle services and guest transfers arranged through the property; these are modern diesel vehicles maintained to local road-safety standards. Sonesta Nouba uses LED lighting in public areas and a linen-reuse program that lets guests opt out of daily towel and sheet changes to reduce water and energy use. Food and beverage outlets source some produce from local Aswan suppliers and fishers when available; the hotel employs local staff from the Aswan area for housekeeping, F&B and guest services. We monitor single-use plastic reduction measures on-site, for example filtered water stations rather than bottled water in some public areas, but bottled water remains available on request. If you want a written summary of the hotel’s supplier and waste-management practices, we will request detailed figures from the hotel and share them before you book.

Asked & answered

Frequent questions

  1. 01Which of these Aswan hotels has Nile views?
Each property offers at least some rooms with Nile views, subject to availability at booking. Request a 'Nile view' room when you book and we will confirm the exact category and any supplement. Riverfront rooms are limited during high season; early booking reduces the risk of being allocated a garden or pool view room.
  2. 02How far are these hotels from Aswan airport?
All three hotels are approximately 15–25 minutes' drive from Aswan International Airport, depending on traffic. We normally arrange a private meet-and-greet transfer timed to your flight arrival. Late-night arrivals are common; we advise confirming transfer availability in advance so you avoid waiting at the airport.
  3. 03Can I book an Abu Simbel excursion from these hotels?
Yes – Aswan hotels are the usual base for day trips to Abu Simbel. By road it is roughly a three-hour drive each way (about 280 km); domestic flights take around 40 minutes each way. The road option needs a very early start; we can arrange private car, scheduled coach, or flight transfers depending on your preference and seasonality.
  4. 04Are these hotels suitable for families?
Yes – these properties can provide family rooms, interconnecting rooms or extra beds on request, subject to availability. Pools and outdoor spaces help with afternoon downtime; children's menus and babysitting services vary by hotel. Tell us the children's ages when you enquire so we confirm the best room configuration and any extra costs.
  5. 05Do these hotels have spas and pools?
All three hotels operate at least one outdoor pool and offer spa or wellness facilities. Pool opening hours and spa treatment menus vary by property and season; some treatments require advance booking. If you want pool-heating, adult-only hours, or specific therapies, tell us and we will confirm availability before you travel.
  6. 06Can you arrange transfers and day trips from these hotels?
Yes – as a licensed Egyptian tour operator we arrange private transfers, Egyptologists and day trips from any Aswan hotel. We do not bundle these hotels into mass coach tours; we prefer private cars and flexible timings to match temple opening hours. Tell us your preferred start time and we will propose a driver, guide and quoted itinerary.

Helnan Mamoura is a seafront hotel on Alexandria's Corniche offering a quiet Mediterranean base for short stays and conference use. Montazah Royal Gardens and Montazah Palace lie a short drive away; Qaitbay Citadel is reachable by Corniche drive. Corniche rush-hour can add to transfer times and some rooms face the road rather than the sea. Hilton Luxor Hotel, Luxor

Hilton Luxor is an international-brand hotel in Luxor that we book for travellers seeking consistent service and straightforward logistics. We are a licensed Egyptian tour operator and arrange private transfers, room requests and guided-excursion departures. Distinctive POV: we prefer boutique hotels for extended stays because they offer more local character; Hilton Luxor suits short stays or tightly timed itineraries. Compared with small guesthouses, Hilton centralises check-in and on-site services, which helps when flights arrive late. Trade-offs: busier public areas, less local character and higher peak-season rates than smaller properties. We can request specific room types and early breakfasts to match departures for Luxor West Bank sites.
